Typical Work Activities

  • Oversee the fleet operations program, including purchasing, licensing, inventory, inspections, preventative maintenance, and repair/replacement schedules, ensuring all fleet members have proper licensure and up-to-date training.
  • Monitor and initiate actions to maintain Airport Authority fleet equipment in accordance with recognized trade standards and federal and state regulations.
  • Review and assign work orders to identify factors such as productivity rates, types of repair tasks performed, and the time required to perform such tasks, aiming to improve the efficient utilization of staff, equipment, supplies, and space.
  • Maintain electronic records of all inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs made on vehicles and equipment.
  • Plan and submit recommendations regarding the repair and replacement of motor equipment for annual budget approval.
  • Recommend operating budget for motor equipment maintenance section based on budget analysis review.
  • Participate in safety programs and safety training, demonstrating total commitment and compliance with all safety and environmental policies.
  • Manage inventory through supply room activities, including maintaining parts and material inventories, controlling the issuance of parts and supplies, and performing inventory audits.
  • Procure new and used vehicles and equipment as directed to support airport needs.
  • Review specifications of regular and unconventional equipment and procure necessary parts and supplies for mechanics to perform required maintenance.
  • Research best pricing for inventoried and non-inventoried parts/materials.
  • Interact with motor equipment distributors, dealers, and sales personnel regarding the ordering and purchasing of motor equipment.
  • Maintain fleet fueling equipment and fuel inventories.
  • Perform other duties necessary to keep the airport and airport vehicles operating safely and efficiently.

Job Requirements

  • Good knowledge of the methods and procedures used in stocking, receiving, and dispensing of a wide variety of materials
  • Good knowledge of the procedures for requisitioning materials
  • Ability to keep accurate inventory records and make reports from these records
  • Ability to make accurate arithmetical computations
  • Good knowledge of repair shop safety rules and regulations

Minimum Qualifications
A. Graduation with an Associate’s Degree or higher in Accounting, Business Management, Finance, Automotive Management, Automotive Mechanics, Engineering, Aviation Management or a closely related field from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees and three (3) years of work experience in airfield or vehicle maintenance, fleet management, purchasing, or business management; OR,

B. Five (5) years of work experience, or its part time equivalent, in airfield or vehicle maintenance, fleet management, purchasing, or business management, OR,

C. An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).

Preferred Qualifications

Previous supervisory experience.

 

Licenses and Certifications

1. At time of appointment, possession of a valid New York State Driver’s License including any special endorsements, as required by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for the class of vehicle being operated. Eligibility for and continued possession of the license is required for employment.

2. Must be able to meet and maintain Transportation Security Administration requirements authorizing unescorted access entry to Security Identification Display Area (SIDA).

Enterprise Director of Planning – FLL

The Broward County Aviation Department (BCAD) seeks an Enterprise Director of Planning (EDP) who will be responsible for overseeing and directing all planning activities within BCAD, ensuring the strategic planning of the airports’ master plans, long-range plans, Airport Layout Plans (ALP), and the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). General Description:

Senior Airport Equipment Mechanic

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking qualified candidates to apply for the Senior Airport Equipment Mechanic position. This recruitment may be used to hire for various areas within the Facilities division including, but not limited to, Baggage Handling System (BHS) and Airport Equipment Systems (AES). ABOUT THE POSITION

The Senior Airport Operations Officer oversees, inspects, and evaluates airport operations both land side and airside to ensure safety, security, and to achieve compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Assists emergency services and coordinates responses.

Essential Functions

1 Conducts and performs daily inspections of the runway/taxiway environment to ensure compliance with FAA standards regarding pavement, lighting, markings, and signage; coordinates with the Air Traffic Control Tower, observes wildlife, respond to bird strikes and recover/identify remains, and submits incident reports; inspects gates, fences, and other security devices for safety.

2 Inspects airport for compliance with FAA regulations pertaining to federal standards and requirements to
ensure the operational readiness of the airport; conducts daily inspections of the airport perimeter fence and gates; issues, modifies, and rescinds gate access codes and credentials in the access control system; responds to
suspicious persons and coordinates with DPD; issues trespass warnings when warranted.

3 Assists, supports, and helps airlines with various requests, fuel or lavatory spill calls, custodial spills, and appropriate reporting methods for incidents; provides direction and information on regulations regarding environmental spills and other issues; effectively uses communications software and systems to send messages to personnel and handle personnel or patron situations.

4 Keeps, maintains, and tracks records for all communications and incidents; ensure all situations are documented and reported to ensure proper and safe handling and resolution; provides senior level account of incident and emergency response measures.

5 Ensures construction activities conform to FAA airfield requirements; escorts construction personnel to the airfield as needed; identifies any discrepancies between installed pavement, lighting, signage, etc., and FAA requirements; monitors accounting and other funds, keeps accurate records, and reports data.

Manages plans, assigns, directs, and coordinates the Authority’s, Engineering, Planning, and Facilities Departments to assure appropriate execution of project and master planning, airport engineering including design, construction, inspection, and grant administration and the environmental management programs except for the noise monitoring program. Responsible for oversight of Engineering, Planning, and Facilities staff, consultants, technical specialists, surveyors, contractors and others in the implementation of master plans, environmental programs, airport construction projects, and airport maintenance programs and projects. Work is performed under the supervision of the President, Chief Executive Officer, and requires independent judgment, discretion, initiative and supervisory ability.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Directs, supervises, delegates, hires, terminates, coaches, supports, conducts performance evaluations, counsels, and monitors Facilities Manager and Engineering and Planning personnel. Oversees the activities of the Engineering, Planning, and Facilities Departments ensuring compliance with all Airport policies, laws, and FAA regulations.

Directs the Engineering, Planning, and Facilities Departments to formulate and implement policies. Coordinates each department’s activities with Airport tenants, federal, state and local agency liaisons.

Assists the President, Chief Executive Officer and makes recommendations when conferring with airline tenants, FAA, and FDOT regarding operational regulations and procedures.

Reviews and oversees annual budget requests for Engineering, Planning, and Facilities Departments.

Confers with representatives of federal, state, and local agencies, commercial air carriers, private operators, and other users of Airport facilities regarding maintenance issues.

Participates in community relations activities including presentations and speeches to local organizations. Represents the Airport on various public and private committees and with government entities.

Prepares departments’ short- and long-term goals and objectives and develops and recommends policies and resolutions for SMAA approval.

Establishes and coordinates a range of planning functions including master planning to identify airport development and expansion alternatives necessary to support an FAA/FDOT approved Airport Layout Plan.

Prepares grant applications for federal assistance, as necessary.

Manages, plans, supervises, assigns, trains, hires, terminates, and conducts performance evaluations for staff.  Establishes objectives, work programs, and priorities.

Coordinates and oversees the development of policies, programs, procedures, standards, and schedules related to planning, engineering, and environmental functions.

Oversees consulting engineers and contractors building Airport facilities.  Assures all construction is performed according to federal, state, and local laws, FAA regulations, and Airport policies.

Plans, formulates, coordinates, and implements environmental projects and policies to ensure full compliance with all local, state, and federal laws.

Develops pollution prevention programs designed to reduce the authority’s exposure to future liability.

Inspects work during and after completion for quality and timeframe adherence. Reviews and ensures work is performed in compliance with specifications and/or plans.

Reviews bids and specifications submitted for Airport construction projects. Recommends the selection of consulting engineers and contractors to the President, Chief Executive Officer. Conducts minor feasibility studies.

Recommends various short-, medium-, and long-term plans for Airport development, capital improvement, and expansion programs. Monitors the implementation and maintenance of the approved schedule.

Serves as environmental affairs adviser to management by keeping abreast of new laws and regulations, developing, and interpreting regulations, and recommending procedures and practices for implementation.

Develops the division budget, approves expenditure of budgeted funds, and monitors adherence to budget allocations.

Approves consulting engineers’ and contractors’ progress and final payments. Designs programs to reduce costs.

Prepares applications for federal and state grants.

Airport Operations Duty Manager

As an Airport Operations Duty Manager, you will perform critical airport management functions to ensure the safe, efficient, and secure operation of the entire airport complex.

Airport Operations Duty Manager

Serves in the Airport Operations Department at either Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) or Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

Performs airport management functions with responsibility for the safe, efficient, and secure operation of the entire airport complex. Maintains constant awareness of changing conditions, activities, and requirements affecting Airport operations. Maximizes safety and security with minimal disruption to Airport operations. Reacts and responds to incidents, events, problems, and complaints in a professional manner and takes appropriate actions. Performs related functions.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintains constant awareness of conditions, activities and changing requirements affecting Airport security. Ensures adherence to the Airport’s operations safety standards.

As an Airport Facility Activation Director, you will lead the strategic planning and execution of the seamless transition of newly constructed airport facilities to operational use. This role serves as the critical link between the Engineering team and airport departments, including Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Administration, the Dulles Toll Road and external stakeholders. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads facility integration planning for all newly constructed buildings and infrastructure, ensuring operational readiness across all airport functions.

Develops and implements integration strategies, plans, timelines, and checklists for transitioning projects from construction to full airport operation.

Aligns integration efforts with airport operations, including overseeing transition-to-operations documentation, including SOPs, asset inventory, training materials, and maintenance handoffs.
