September 17, 2017

FORT WORTH – Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) today announced that Christina Cassotis, CEO of the Allegheny County Airport Authority, is this year’s recipient of the ACI-NA Excellence in Visionary Leadership Award. The award was announced during the 2017 ACI-NA Annual Conference and Exhibition in Fort Worth, TX.

“ACI-NA is pleased to recognize the distinguished leadership of Christina Cassotis with the 2017 Excellence in Visionary Leadership Award,” said ACI-NA’s President and CEO Kevin M. Burke. “Over the last year, Christina has significantly increased air service options, improved the airport’s passenger experience, and elevated the role of the airport in its community and the broader aviation system.  Her commitment to professional development and innovative thinking has strongly positioned the airport authority as a leader within the Pittsburgh community.”

“To be presented with this prestigious award is an honor for which I am incredibly grateful and which I dedicate to the ACAA team and our partners in Pittsburgh. From my first day as CEO, I have been inspired by the grit and resolve of a community that rises to meet its challenges head-on and continually comes together to succeed. I am lucky to lead this talented and hard-working team at this important time.”

Cassotis was named the CEO of the Allegheny County Airport Authority in January 2015. She has been instrumental in growing Pittsburgh International Airport and Allegheny County Airport to better reflect the revitalized region they proudly serve. Cassotis is also an active member of ACI-NA’s Medium Hub Airport Caucus.

Launched in 2016 by ACI-NA’s Human Resources Committee, the Excellence in Visionary Leadership Award recognizes the extraordinary leadership of an airport CEO who best exemplifies the nine core competencies, including people practice expertise, relationship management, consultation, leadership and navigation, communication, global and cultural effectiveness, ethical practice, critical evaluation, and business acumen.
