Airports Council Launches New Industry Accreditation

Washington – Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA), the trade association representing commercial airports in the United States and Canada, today launched the U.S. Airport Professional (USAP) Program, a new industry accreditation designed to further develop leadership and strategic management skills for U.S. airport industry professionals.

“The airport industry and our world has been fundamentally changed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and the challenges of our business have never been greater,” said ACI-NA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke. “Developing leaders with strategic thinking and vision is more important than ever as we collectively work to ensure the health, safety, and security of the traveling public and facilitate the recovery of the industry. The industry has always looked to ACI-NA to develop and deliver first-in-class education.  Today I am excited to announce the next step in our work to further enhance membership value.”

The U.S. Airport Professional (USAP) Program is an e-learning training curriculum for airport industry professionals accredited by ACI-NA.  After completing the program, individuals will be awarded the U.S. Airport Professional (USAP) designation. The program covers a full range of current airport management topics, including leadership development, business strategy, commercial management, finance, operations, safety, security, and air service.

Through a custom designed e-curriculum that enables individuals to acquire the necessary skills to increase their value and success in the U.S. airport industry, students will focus on developing leadership and strategic management skills for airport industry professionals.  The program is designed for seasoned airport industry professionals as well as new entrants to the industry and provide individuals with a broad and detailed understanding of the U.S. airport industry to build the next generation of industry leaders.

Earning the USAP designation is a great first step into the ACI Airport Management Professional Accreditation Program (AMPAP), where students can earn their International Aviation Professional (IAP) accreditation. Any employee of an ACI-NA Airport Member or World Business Partner/Associate Member is eligible to enroll in the USAP Program.
