Job Overview:

Under minimal supervision, preparation and reconciliation of financial statements, prepare
journal entries, maintain general ledger balances and fixed assets control, complete assigned
special projects, and organize/ process all other financial information in accordance with Tucson
Airport Authority’s (TAA) procedures, programs, policies, and standards for Tucson International
Airport (TUS) and Ryan Airfield (RYN).

Essential Functions:

The following functions and all other functions not included in this job description are to be
performed in the best interests and for the greater good of TAA.

Manage, develop, monitor, analyze, and interpret statistical and accounting information, to appraise operating results and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization and assist departments with other necessary financial analysis required.
Ensure accuracy of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and reports for Financial Controller review.
Maintain and control the physical security and confidentiality of the accounting records.
Manage the annual audit processes and prepare and/or review audit schedules.
Direct and arrange for the completion of work for assigned Finance Department staff, including: accounting entry, work paper preparation, reconciliation, reporting and questions/issues that arise.
Assist in matters related to maintaining accounting and financial reporting systems.
Assist in development, implementation & maintenance of policies, procedures & business processes to enhance workflow of Finance Department and TAA.
Verify that accounting controls are in place and working to ensure assets are safeguarded
against fraud, waste or improper use.
Provide assistance and collaborate with the Manager of Financial Planning, Budgeting and Analysis to prepare and maintain the TAA budget.
Oversee the maintenance and reconciliation of general ledger accounts and supporting subsidiary ledgers.

 

Your Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance.
Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience with complex financial systems software and people management.
CPA preferred, but not required.

Knowledge of Federal, state, and local laws and regulations relating to the receipt, expenditure and accounting of public funds, federal grant compliance and reporting, payroll.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of business and public administration, financing and
management information systems.
Knowledge of Computers, Microsoft Office software, other software programs, and office machines.
Organization, oral and written communications.

 

Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:

Valid Arizona Driver’s license
As an employee, you are deemed to be essential personnel as part of TAA’s
emergency response, and must respond to airport incidents, as requested/required.
Must successfully complete the National Incident Management System (NIMS) Course
requirements and certification assigned for this position within the first year.
Must obtain and maintain access to the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA).
