The Port of Seattle is seeking a Chief Financial Officer. The CFO is the Port’s top financial executive and serves as a strategic advisor to the Executive Director, Executive Leadership Team, and Port Commission. This “at-will” role is responsible for shaping financial policy, safeguarding public assets, and ensuring long-term economic sustainability. As Treasurer of the Port, the CFO provides fiduciary leadership with oversight of treasury functions and a $3 billion plus debt portfolio.

The CFO leads the Port’s financial strategy, guiding decisions on budgeting, capital financing, risk management, and investment. A key member of the Executive Team, this leader drives innovation in fiscal practices and ensures the Port meets evolving economic, technological, and regulatory demands. The CFO also champions transparency and accountability in financial reporting.

Key responsibilities include:

·        Direct all financial planning, budgeting, treasury, and accounting functions.

·        Lead development and execution of the Port’s annual and long-term financial plans.

·        Oversee multi-year capital funding strategies and investment portfolios.

·        Serve as executive sponsor on cross-departmental and enterprise-wide initiatives.

·        Provide leadership over enterprise risk management and insurance programs.

·        Collaborate with external auditors, rating agencies, investors, and elected officials.

·        Champion the integration of digital finance tools and technologies.

·        Drive financial policies that champion equity, inclusion, and ethical financial stewardship within all Port operations.

·        Coordinate with counterparts at the Port of Seattle’s maritime shipping joint venture, the Northwest Seaport Alliance.

Position Qualifications

·        Ten (10) years of financial management and operations experience in leading an organization’s financial and accounting function; directing financial strategies including responsibility for the strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, risk and compliance, and oversight of the organization’s financial activities.

·        Five (5) years’ senior leadership experience as a Chief Financial Officer, senior leader or performing similar functions including working with and collaborating with other executives to strategically align financial goals and overall business objectives.

·        Preferable to have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, economics, or public administration.

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $258,804 – $349,384. The starting salary offer will be determined by the Port and is based on years of similar work experience.
