The Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) is seeking an Executive Director. The Executive Director reports to the CAA Board of Directors, which is an 11-member body comprised of three ex-officio members (State Treasurer, Connecticut Department of Transportation Commissioner, and Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner) and eight gubernatorial and legislative appointees with experience in financial planning, budgeting and assessment, marketing, master planning, aviation, and transportation management. The Executive Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all activities associated with the operation and economic development of Bradley International Airport and the CAA’s five general aviation airports (Danielson, Groton-New London, Hartford-Brainard, Waterbury-Oxford, and Windham).

Other responsibilities include:

  • Providing and guiding the strategic vision of CAA airports.
  • Designing marketing strategies.
  • Working closely with all stakeholders in guiding the airport’s overall success.
  • Overseeing regulatory responsibilities for aviation matters across the state.
  • Building positive relationships with local, city and state business leaders.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in a related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • At least ten (10) years of executive-level experience required in increasingly responsible roles within an airport or airport system, including exposure to a wide array of airport functions and services; both medium-hub airport and general aviation airport experience preferred.
  • Professional certification as an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) from the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) or International Airport Professional (IAP) from Airports Council International (ACI) is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record in compliance with the CAA motor vehicle policy.
  • Working knowledge of State of Connecticut quasi-public agencies and/or state executive branch agencies preferred.

Salary & Compensation

The salary range for this position is $325,000 – $425,000. A starting salary above the mid-point is achievable for the exceptional candidate and will be dependent upon experience.
