The City of Boise Department of Aviation is seeking a Deputy Director of Operations to lead a highly experienced team, working closely with the Operations/Security Managers, both of whom directly supervise most of the Operations staff. Supporting around-the-clock airport operations, the department also includes four Duty Managers who provide 24/7 on-site oversight and coordination.

The Deputy Director of Operations plans, coordinates, implements, and manages Airport Operations, Security, Technology, and Airfield Maintenance teams within the Boise Airport. They lead airport certification programs and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and develop and implement long-term strategic plans to meet the goals of the airport and city. This position manages professional, trade, and skilled staff to maintain the airport and accomplish requirements and goals.

Preferred Experience

·       Bachelor’s degree in airport administration, business or public administration or a related field and seven years of progressively responsible experience in airport management, airport operations or aviation and airline operations, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

·       Knowledge of the principles and practices of airport administration; airport emergency response and safety programs; computer usage including related software; federal regulations pertaining to airport operations and management; operational requirements of airlines; and effective supervision and performance management.

·        Ability to analyze and report upon operating conditions and problems; evaluate and interpret various federal, state and local regulations; manage and supervise the performance of staff; communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Salary & Benefits

The successful candidate will be offered a very competitive salary with an outstanding benefits package. The compensation range is $212,765 – $250,300.
