Pay Range: $75,000 – $80,000

General Description:

Ensures ongoing compliance with local and State of California Rules & Regulations for Noise and Environmental.   Monitor aircraft compliance and noise complaints using the Airport’s Flight Tracking System. Coordinate with field personnel and other departments to gather data for required recordkeeping activities.

Essential Job Functions:

Core Responsibilities

  • Partner with tenants to ensure all data submittals (including but not limited to GSE and hazardous materials inventory) are collected, analyzed, and submitted for data analysis and emissions calculations.
  • Perform environmental field inspections to identify pollutants and prevent contaminants from entering a storm drain system.
  • Performs discretionary and independent judgement during inspections and provides expert advice to tenants to ensure environmental corrective action and preventive measures are being utilized in their leasehold areas.
  • Collect Storm Water Samples.
  • Escort contractors as needed.
  • Use the Noise Monitoring system to create noise reports for staff and the community.
  • Instructs the noise system provider on technical aspects of operating equipment, and flight data discrepancies.
  • Be the point of contact for all noise complaints.
  • Investigates noise complaints and responds to the public on behalf of the Airport. Verifies the source of the disturbance based on the information gathered from the individual.
  • Effectively educates the public on Airport’s flight operations procedure and maintains records to be in compliance with the California Noise Standards.
  • Investigates potential nighttime noise violations of the Airport’s Rules and Regulations for aircraft and identify restricted aircraft during the Airport’s Voluntary curfew hours.
  • Process noise & environmental invoices and check requests as needed.
  • Monitor the operation of remote Noise Monitoring Terminals (NMT) and troubleshoots problems to identify defective components.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

Employment Standards

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental, Aviation, or related field.
  • -And-
  • At least two (2) years of experience in Environmental, Aviation or related field.
  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills with ability to effectively utilize programs such as Excel, Word, Power Point, with ability to learn newly introduced programs.

License and Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid California Driver’s license.
  • Obtain and maintain security clearance as required by role and TSA regulations.

Supplemental Information:

Knowledge and understanding of:

  • CA environmental regulations, such as, RCRA, CUPA, AQMD, CARB and the State Water Board.
  • Intermediate understanding of office software, such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, and internet browser.

  • Multi-task, maintain situational awareness, and respond effectively to stressful situations in a calm and controlled manner.
  • Be dependable. Demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
  • Take ownership of assigned projects and possess effective interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Be flexible to work early or leave late to collect water samples.
