Some of what you’ll be doing:
You will perform duties on and around the Air Operations Area (AOA) and Airport Movement Areas (AMA) in all weather conditions including rain, snow, and low visibility, monitoring events and conditions, enforcing Port of Seattle operating rules, ensuring compliance with CFR Title 14 Part 139, assisting in emergency response, assisting with SMS, and CFR Title 49 Part 1542. You will provide services related to keeping the airfield environment safe and secure for users. Must be part of a team of “Qualified Personal” which all have safety and security as their mission.

• You can achieve, and maintain, competency and qualifications to drive a vehicle unescorted on the non-movement area (AOA), and specifically achieve the advanced authorization to drive a vehicle unescorted on the movement area (AMA), in all weather conditions.
• You will inspect runways, taxiways, aprons/ramps, and bag well within the AOA for compliance with FAR Part 139 criteria of standard markings, lighting, surface conditions, wildlife mitigation, and defects to these criteria.
• You will use approved wildlife mitigation methods and devices to maintain standards of Part 139 to include firearms and pyrotechnic devices and respond to automated alerts including those from an Avian Radar.
• You will provide support and safety oversight to construction activities on the AOA.
• You will operate Continuous Friction Measuring Equipment (CFME) during inclement weather to determine the coefficient of friction on Movement Area surfaces.
• You will conduct airfield tours or site orientations on request of Airport Operations management.
• You will provide support and assistance in the event of an emergency in support of requests of Airport Operations management and the Airport Emergency Plan.
• You will inspect airfield perimeter to detect breaches in security perimeter, building perimeter, and airfield access gates.
• You will report deficiencies to management for mitigation and may be directed to monitor an open perimeter gate or breach until the situation is resolved.
• You will conduct vehicle and personnel stops on the AOA in pursuit of enforcement of Airport Rules and Regulations, adherence with Part 139 Ground Vehicle Program, and adherence with Airport Security Plan.
• You will monitor and maintain constant radio contact with Airport Operations management, FAA Airport Traffic Control Tower (ATCT), Seattle Ramp Tower (SRT), and the Airport Communications Center (ACC).
• You will act as an agent for Airport Operations in customer contacts regarding a variety of issues, potential conflicts, on procedures, and use of airfield facilities.
• You will maintain logs and reports to detail shift activities, assignments, aircraft inventory, and FAR Part 139 inspections.
• You may provide orientations and non-classroom training on airfield procedures and regulations to new employee, customer, or other tenant personnel.

Who you are:

• Experienced – You have five (5) years’ experience working for a hub airport, the ability to obtain a Washington State Concealed Pistol License within the first six months of employment, and you have a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required.
• Certification or Equivalent – You possess a AAAE ACE Operations Certification or equivalent or greater qualifications (such as an Associate degree or higher and/or AAAE Certified Member (CM)).
• Desired – We hope you have an Associate Degree in Aviation or related field.

What else you need to know: 

• Driver’s License – You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.
• Work Schedule – This is a seven day a week and twenty-four hour a day facility. Normal work schedule will vary. Must be able and willing to work any and all assigned shifts, including weekends and holidays. Will be required to work during emergencies.
• Work Environment – Performs duties driving a vehicle and on foot on the airfield environment. Is exposed to work in inclement weather, the challenge of operating around moving aircraft and construction equipment, and a high noise level. The work shifts cover 24/7, 365 days a year for operations of the facility. *Must work in and around injured personal on the airfield as a result of industry accidents or escorting ambulances and providing direction to or from a site.
• Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
• Overtime Eligible – You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.
• Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
