The Position
The Lee County Port Authority (LCPA) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Environmental Compliance & Planning Team. The successful candidate must have strong verbal and written communication skills, highly defined organizational skills and the ability to coordinate multiple and varying projects. This is a professional staff position responsible for assisting the Environmental Compliance & Planning department with the environmental programs at Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), Page Field (FMY) and Mitigation Park. Work is performed under the direction of the LCPA Environmental Specialist.
The anticipated bi-weekly starting salary for the ideal candidate is between $2,452.47 – $2,942.40
Key Responsibilities
• Input information regarding permitting and compliance key milestones in the Environmental Management System
• Responsible for the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Spill Prevention Control Countermeasures (SPCC) programs at FMY and RSW
• Ensure proper storage tank registrations, tests, repairs and compliance
• Required to respond to spills and assist with remediation projects
• Assist with land management and hydrologic monitoring programs at RSW and Mitigation Park
• Assist with LCPA’s Hazardous Wildlife Management Program and Hazardous Wildlife Working Group
• Responsible for LCPA sustainability planning and initiatives
• Responsible for RSW irrigation and dewatering permitting and compliance
Minimum Requirements
• Graduation from a four-year college or university, preferably with a degree in environmental or related field, or any other equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must become knowledgeable of state, federal and local laws and regulations governing airports pertaining to environmental compliance
• Ability to review and analyze environmental technical reports and papers for completeness and accuracy
• Required to spend time in the field on RSW and FMY airport property and at the offsite 7,000-acre Mitigation Park. Field visits may require use of a four-wheel drive vehicle
Emergency Response/Recovery Activities: Lee County Port Authority personnel are designated by tier levels and may be called upon to assist with an emergency or unforeseen event at any time. Employees may be called to fulfill duties that are outside their normal scope of work to assist in resuming airport operations and flight activities.
