ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Aviation Department manages and operates the Phoenix Airport System which consists of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Deer Valley Airport, and Goodyear Airport. The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has consistently been ranked as one of the top ten busiest airports in the nation. Serving more than 125,000 passengers daily, with over 1,200 flights per day, the airport has a total economic impact of more than $44 billion per year.

The Aviation Public Safety and Security Division is seeking an Aviation Superintendent – Safety and Emergency Preparedness Manager to provide strategic direction and oversight for the Department’s Airport Safety and Airport Emergency Preparedness programs. This role is also responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations and industry best practices. This role will collaborate with external agencies including the Federal Aviation Administration and Transportation Security Administration, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration, among others.

The Emergency Preparedness Manager will:

Lead the Airport’s Safety, Airport Dispatching and Airport Emergency Preparedness programs.
Ensure compliance with Federal regulations and industry best practices.
Work collaboratively to build relationships across the Airport community.
Act as a liaison with all internal and external airport stakeholders.
Provide direct supervision to the Aviation Supervisor III and oversee two Safety Analysts, offering management and support in the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety programs, policies, and safety training.
Provide management and support for the Aviation Dispatcher team, including two Aviation Dispatch Supervisor II’s, six Aviation Dispatch Supervisor I’s and 24 Aviation Dispatchers.

Currently there is one vacancy within the Aviation Department’s Public Safety and Security division.

SALARY

Hiring Range: $93,121 to $124,800 annually.
