Position Summary
Provide ground, facility, labor and air􀀁eld maintenance duties for the airport and its facilities working through the
Air􀀁eld Maintenance Division. Duties include repair of airport equipment, surrounding property, and facilities;
operate pavement maintenance equipment to repair air􀀁eld surfaces and perform a variety of maintenance tasks
relative to assigned areas of responsibility.

Essential and Supplemental Functions

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essentialfunctions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below. Mustbe able
to perform the essential functions of the job with or without areasonable accommodation.
1. Perform general Air􀀂eld maintenance activities at the airport including cleaning and maintaining airport parking
lots, facilities, and grounds.
2. Maintain airport runways and taxiways and related areas and facilities; perform a wide variety of maintenance
tasks and minor repairs of airport equipment, parking lots, facilities, and grounds.
3. Operate trucks, tractors and other airport equipment and vehicles; maintain and inspect equipment and vehicles for
repair and maintenance needs.
4. Operate and perform routine and minor maintenance of power-driven cleaning and snow removal equipment;
assist technicians with equipment repair projects.
5. Mow landscaped areas and medians around runways, taxiways and roads; maintain and repair equipment; to
include minor repairs to motorized equipment including weed trimmers and blowers.
6. Perform grounds maintenance labor activities to include minor maintenance and repairs to air􀀂eld, facilities, and
grounds.
7. Perform general building janitorial and custodial duties; sweep, mop, buff 􀀃oors, vacuum and shampoo carpets;
clean windows, mirrors, restrooms and meeting rooms.
8. Perform traf􀀂c control duties to maintain traf􀀂c 􀀃ow and safe job site environment.
9. Perform minor concrete and asphalt repairs; basic street repair tasks including asphalt patching.
10. Drive vehicles with trailer in tow to transport equipment, materials, tools to and from job sites.
11. Assist with snow removal and de-icing of airport ramp and streets using snowplows, blowers, and sand spreaders
as assigned.
12. Ensure adherence to safe work practices and procedures; maintain effective communications with communications
tower and other required airport safety communication divisions and areas.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve
complaints in an ef􀀂cient and timely manner.
2. Respond to air􀀂eld ground emergencies as requested.
3. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year
basis.
High school diploma or GED; and
Two (2) years of experience in general maintenance, grounds maintenance, street maintenance, construction, or paving.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a valid City Operator’s Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card as determined by the criteria set
forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
Successful completion of a security background check conducted by U.S. Customs & Border Protection, if applicable.

Working Conditions
Environmental:
Air􀀂eld environment; work around construction equipment and aircraft; exposure to noise, and inclement weather
conditions.
Physical:
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for heavy, moderate or light
lifting; walking standing or sitting for prolonged periods; and operating motorized equipment and vehicles.
