GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under general supervision of the Director of Operations, monitors and coordinates all operational activity occurring in the Airside Operations areas to ensure compliance with FAA Part 139, TSA 1542, and Airport regulations and policies.  Interacts with a variety of personnel including co-workers, tenants, contractors, and consultants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensures airport compliance with Federal Aviation Administration Part 139 and Department of Homeland Security-TSA CFR 1542 regulations. Keeps current on existing and new federal, state and local requirements (i.e. Advisory Circulars, Cert-Alerts, FAA Orders, Security Directives, etc.).

Conducts multiple daily inspections to include runways, taxiways, safety areas, ramp areas, and perimeter fence line and initiate corrective action as necessary; conducts inspections of airside areas for aesthetics, safety, security and general conditions and takes appropriate action when necessary to correct unsuitable conditions (i.e. initiate maintenance work orders).

Mitigates wildlife hazards by conducting wildlife dispersal activities; maintaining various wildlife devices; and acquiring proper permits for wildlife depredation, etc.; and maintains accurate airfield inspection and wildlife mitigation records.

Ensures the airfield is in compliance with Airport Certification Manual and recommends changes and updates as necessary; coordinates and monitors construction and maintenance work in operational areas to ensure a safe environment for both aircraft and personnel at all times and reviews project safety plans to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.

Operates department vehicle and equipment; provides airside escorts; serves as airport representative during construction projects and in the absence of senior operations personnel.

Maintains radio contact with Air Traffic Control Tower and coordinates airfield projects with Air Traffic Controllers; initiates NOTAMs and maintains log; performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:    Completion of college level work in Aviation Management, Airway Science, or related field of study.

Experience:  Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in airport operations, airport security, or airport safety.

Directly related professional experience may substitute for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge of:

·         Considerable knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulation Part 139.

·         Knowledge of Airport Certification Manual.

·         Ability to detect, report, and/or correct hazardous conditions.

·         Ability to formulate and execute procedures, perform work with a high degree of accuracy, and assume                                 responsibility.

.         Ability to communicate effectively and maintain a positive attitude with the general public and all Airport                            employees

·         Skill in oral and written communication.

·         Ability to work independently.

·         Flexibility to work rotating shifts, on call, overtime, and possibly weekends and holidays.

Special Requirements:

·         Employment is contingent upon background investigation.  Must pass Criminal History Record Check and                           Security Threat Assessment.  Must maintain appropriate security status at all times.

Skill:

·         Excellent communication skills both written and oral

·         Strong supervisory skills

·         Ability to write reports and make presentations before a large audience.

·         Strong people skills

Licensing/Certification:  Possession of a valid driver’s license with good driving history.  If State license is other than Georgia or South Carolina, applicant must obtain a license in Georgia or South Carolina within 30 days of employment.
