SALT LAKE CITY — Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) today announced Dickie K. Davis of Miami International Airport (MIA) as the recipient of the 2016 Ted Bushelman Legacy Award for Creativity and Excellence. The Bushelman Award, an award recognizing the accomplishments and contributions of airport marketing and communications professionals, was presented to Davis during an awards gala on November 3, 2016, at the ACI-NA Marketing and Communications Conference in Salt Lake City, UT.

“Throughout her career as a dedicated and passionate advocate for passengers at MIA, Dickie continues to inspire a new way of thinking about the airport passenger experience,” said ACI-NA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke.  “Her commitment to mentoring the next generation of airport public relations, marketing, and customer service professionals speaks to the heart of the Ted Bushelman Legacy Award for Creativity.  I applaud her on this industry recognition for her transformative work to benefit North American airports.”

For more than four decades, Davis has been the face and voice of MIA. As the Director of Public Relations and Digital Marketing for the airport, Davis is responsible for the airport’s creative services, digital marketing, public relations and customer service. Known as the “First Lady of MIA,” she is responsible for growing the airport’s brand awareness on a global scale through innovative communications campaigns and customer service initiatives.

Davis has also been an active member of ACI-NA’s Marketing and Communications Committee since its formation more than 40 years ago.

The Ted Bushelman Legacy Award for Creativity and Excellence is named for its first recipient, Ted Bushelman, who served as Senior Director of Communications, Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport for 40 years.
