ACI-NA Announces Results of the 2016 Excellence in Human Resources Recognition Program

ORLANDO, FL – Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA) today announced two recipients of the inaugural ACI-NA Excellence in Human Resources Recognition Program. The winners were recognized during an awards gala dinner at the 2016 ACI-NA Business of Airports Conference in Orlando, FL, which was attended by nearly 500 commercial management, human resource, and finance executives from the North American airport industry.

“With more than 1.3 million people working at North American airports, airports are job creators for local communities across North America,” said ACI-NA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke.  “Airports are only as successful as the highly talented workers they employ.  ACI-NA is pleased to recognize the airports that continue to make significant investments in human capital.”

Overall Human Resources Program Winner: Vancouver Airport Authority

The Vancouver Airport Authority manages the Vancouver International Airport (YVR), Canada’s second busiest airport, welcoming 20.3 million people in 2015. In order to achieve continued success for the airport, the Authority’s Human Resources Team is committed to creating a culture of caring for every customer, and a culture of innovation through the development of programs for employees that support them through their careers at the Airport Authority.

Change Management Program Winner: Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority

In the middle of a tough economic recession for the aviation industry and the nation as a whole, the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority created a “new flight plan” that incorporated creating a positive environment. For the Airport Authority, this meant developing a new approach to human resources. The Human Resources team goal was to continue our success rate as a highly productive workforce while implementing programs that would focus on creating organizationally engaged employees in an enhanced collaborative environment. The team tackled this goal by supporting a new organizational culture, and getting aggressive with succession planning efforts.
