Enterprise Director of Planning – FLL

The Broward County Aviation Department (BCAD) seeks an Enterprise Director of Planning (EDP) who will be responsible for overseeing and directing all planning activities within BCAD, ensuring the strategic planning of the airports’ master plans, long-range plans, Airport Layout Plans (ALP), and the Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The EDP is a key member of the Senior Team who reports to the Capital Project Management Administrator.

Following the approval of the master plans in 2020, BCAD is actively developing projects outlined within the plans. The EDP plays a crucial role in advancing aviation planning projects to promote CIP implementation and resilience projects that support master plan execution, environmental programs, and the integration of technology for airport development. Additionally, the EDP oversees other BCAD planning activities associated with economic impact analysis, grant writing and administration, and federal and state legislative efforts.

The position manages a total staff of 11 individuals, including the Environmental Program Manager and staff, the GIS Program Manager and staff, and the Aviation Planning Manager and staff.

Position Qualifications

·        Thorough knowledge of principles and practices associated with the implementation of large scale, complex airport construction and engineering programs.

·        Thorough knowledge of all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements applicable to airport operations related to planning, engineering and construction.

·        Thorough knowledge of the funding processes in a municipal environment as related to budgeting, cost accounting, financial planning, and management.

·        Working knowledge of Aviation Planning, environmental regulations, environmental compliance, and sustainability.

·        Requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in engineering or planning or closely related field.

·        Requires eight (8) years in major planning, architecture or engineering in the airport or aviation industry including four (4) years of managerial/ supervisory experience.

Compensation

Salary depends on qualifications and will be based upon the knowledge and experience of the individual selected. The annual salary range for this position is $116,642.75 – $186,161.49. The State of Florida does not have a state income tax. Broward County has a competitive and comprehensive benefits package.
