We’re hiring a Safety & Health Manager to lead the daily operations of our Airport’s Safety & Health section. In this role, you will lead the daily operations and administrative functions of our Airport’s Safety and Health section. In this vital role, you’ll develop, manage, and continuously enhance comprehensive safety and health programs, including the Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), as well as those required by OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and elements of the Airport Quality Standards Program.
You will be responsible for overseeing the Airport’s Occupational Health & Safety policies, procedures, and training programs. Collaborating closely with internal departments and external airport stakeholders, and lead efforts to improve safety policies and practices across the airport.
You will also serve as a key liaison with City and County agencies, regulatory bodies (such as OSHA and Cal/OSHA), airlines, and airport tenants—representing the airport in meetings and initiatives related to safety, health, and IIPP compliance.

How to qualify
Education: Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university AND
Experience: Five (5) years of professional experience in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Sciences, or Health Management
Education Substitution: Additional qualifying full-time work experience (2000 hours equal one year) as described above may substitute up to two (2) years of the required education. One (1) year of work experience equals to 30 semester units or 45 quarter units.
Experience Substitution: Possession of a Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Sciences, or Health Management may substitute for one (1) year of the required professional experience.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Environmental health management experience.
- Experience in ergonomic design and implementation.
- Experience with safety management systems.
- Experience managing psychosocial hazards in the workplace.
- Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma.
- Health and risk experience in the aviation industry or medical industry.
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
- Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health; Environmental Sciences, Health Management or closely related field.
- Certification as a Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist or other relevant certifications.
