Salary: The hiring salary for the Plumber II is starting at $36.00 an hour. The full pay range for the Plumber II is $36.00 – $41.98 – $48.72.

About the Job:

The Facilities Management Department is searching for an experienced Plumber II to complete journey-level duties in the design, installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing and related systems, fixtures, and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of technical expertise in commercial plumbing and a strong problem-solving ability.

What You’ll Do:

1. Install, maintain and repair Plumbing systems and fixtures which include restroom facilities, water heaters, pumps, valves, plumbing control devices, faucets, pipes,  drains, water and sewer systems, fountains, backflow devices, fire sprinkler system, air and gas lines.

2. Sketches and lays out work from drawings.  Interprets blueprints, schematics, and diagrams, requisitions supplies, maintains records and logs.  Ensures compliance of work with codes for a variety of equipment, and facilities. Operates tools and equipment, drills, jackhammers, saws, pipe snakes, pipe threading machines, hand and power tools.

3. Operates computer to create and access records, time cards, and work orders.  Responds to emergency situations.  Coordinates work with stakeholders and other trades. Assists with training or instructing others. Performs related duties as assigned.

4. Work-Related Driving*: Drive and operate Authority vehicles to job sites and multiple locations throughout the Authority campus. Transport essential equipment for projects and repairs.

3. Relationship & Interpersonal Skills – Demonstrates collaborative interpersonal proficiency to engage teams and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels within and outside the organization. Exhibits consistency and reliability; demonstrates awareness of others.

4. Leveraging Technology – Effectively uses and generates information electronically integrates technology solutions and systems.

Requirements
The Experience You Need to Have**:

Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D
Two years of journey-level plumbing experience
Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
A current Backflow Testers License issued by the County of San Diego or State of California within one year of date of employment.

Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements :

Maintain a valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain insurability under the Authority’s vehicle insurance policy.
Successful completion of a fingerprint-based background investigation, training, and testing required for employment and operation and operation of Authority and San Diego County physical security, surveillance, radio and telecommunications equipment.
Note: The candidate selected for this vacancy will work the second and or third shift schedule which requires night shift and weekend work; including being called back to work during emergency situations.

This role requires regular driving as a critical part of performing work-related duties, specifically involving the operation of Airport Authority vehicles. A valid California driver’s license is required, along with strict adherence to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Applicants must maintain an acceptable driving record to operate Authority vehicles. Compliance with Airport Authority vehicle use policies, including safety protocols and reporting requirements, is mandatory. Applicants must acknowledge that driving Airport Authority vehicles is an essential function of this role.
