Maximum Salary: 187,408.00

Salary offers will be made within the posted range. Placement within the range will be determined based on your similar work experience. The Port considers work experience to be similar if the scope and level of responsibility of your prior positions match the job being offered.

Some of what you’ll be doing:
As the Manager, Airport Duty Manager Operations, you will provide leadership, oversight and management of the Airport Duty Managers (ADMs) to ensure continuity of operations. You will also develop and manage the ADM program and ensure consistency and accountability in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • You will provide strategic direction and leadership promoting the continuity of airport operations and the ADM program across all airport business functions.
  • You will ensure public safety, security, efficiency of operations and leadership when events escalate but also mitigate events through planning, short-term and long-term goals setting.
  • You will ensure that the new ADMs are consistently and thoroughly trained on Landside, Terminal, Airfield, Cargo, and Safety Management System (SMS) disciplines of Airport Operations.
  • You will ensure compliance and proper record keeping for all regulatory and required ADM training and training materials are maintained and updated accurately.
  • You will create partnerships with Operations leadership and solicit feedback/buy-in/expertise towards the ADM programs and staff on ways to improve and enhance performance.
  • You will collaborate across the Airport to ensure safe operations in compliance with federal, state, and Port regulations and policy.
  • You will develop an ADM schedule that meets operational needs and conduct shift and vacation bids in accordance with contract requirements. You will also manage the Awarded Time and review and approve ADM payroll and consistent accountability for attendance.
  • You will ensure completion of ADM job required tasks, including required reporting and documentation and shift reports in a high-quality manner.
  • You will be responsible for development and ongoing management of ADM operating budget.
  • You will be responsible for oversight of first amendment activities and training for the ADM group and liaison with the Terminal Operations Manager for impacts to public space and applicable enforcement.
  • You will liaise regularly with Senior Airport Leadership on urgent and sensitive issues. Assist in Snow Operations including Snow Incident Command.

Who you are:

  • Experienced – You have five (5) years of experience in airport or airline operations and two (2) years of supervisory/lead/mentor experience in an airport or airline environment, including leading a project, contractor or process.
  • Desired – We hope you have a Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation or Management, Accredited Airport Executive (AAE) from AAAE or Certified Member (CM) designation and/or a FAA Private Pilot License. We also hope you have experience with FAA Part 139 and/or TSA Part 1542 in the airport environment.

What else you need to know: 

  • Driver’s License – You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work during emergencies.
  • Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment and work on the airfield occasionally.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
  • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
