What can you expect from this position?

The Director of Maintenance Services is a senior leadership role that oversees the integrity and performance of critical assets, such as Airfield Lighting Systems, Passenger Boarding Bridges and the Baggage Handling Systems throughout the Airport. In this role, you will set the vision and direction of these key systems, while working closely with Airport Operations on the maintenance work program, capital/Long-term Investments in Facilities and Terminals (LIFT) program and contingencies to mitigate risk and ensure asset performance meets passenger/customer expectations.

You will be responsible for operational continuity and business continuity for these specific systems and represent Maintenance for any Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) issue as the lead on-call person. You will also be the representation for Maintenance on the Airline Operations Committee to discuss system performance and safety issues with their teams as a key leader of Pearson Standard and the airside SMS/Safety program. Your team is also a key contributor to the Operational Efficiency Index (OEI) ensuring KPIs are met and monthly reporting/scorecards are generated.

You have a strong business acumen and understand how to manage a large budget and search for ways to be more efficient and cost effective, while using technology and innovation to introduce reductions in spending in their business. You are a strong leader of situational awareness, who monitors and evaluates situations that could get out of control and finds urgent ways to course correct and get things stable to maintain good “Flow Systems”.

You are a proven people leader of enterprise functions. You coach, mentor, and develop individuals and teams to rise to their full potential and highest performance, while providing timely, constructive and consistent feedback and personal development opportunities. You inspire and empower others to achieve results which exceed expectations and support the shared objective of the organization.

This is the role for you, if you have:

  • Ability to inspire and empower others to achieve results which exceed expectations and support the shared objective of the organization as a whole
  • 10+ years experience as a Senior Leader in a leadership role of Facility Management or Maintenance and relevant experience in an environment of facility management or related industry or airport
  • Unionized workforce experience
  • Designations such as CFM, PMP, AAE considered an asset
  • Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position
