Position Summary
Supervise, plan and coordinate airport maintenance activities and operations within the Aviation Department; coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public and provide highly responsible and complex staff assistance to the Airport Facilities Manager.

Exercise direct supervision over supervisory and technical staff.
Essential and Supplemental Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the functions listed below)
Coordinate the organization, staffing and operational activities for assigned airport maintenance services including maintaining all buildings, structures and equipment.
Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities; recommend and implement resulting policies and procedures.
Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; identify resource needs; review with appropriate management staff; implement improvements.
Direct, coordinate and review the work plan for assigned airport maintenance services; assign work activities and projects; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.
Supervise all vehicle and motorized equipment maintenance functions.
Oversee all maintenance for airport buildings or structures including heating, cooling, equipment, electrical and carpentry.
Oversee the activities of the airport supply section; ensure inventory levels are appropriate and adequate for operations.
Select, train, motivate and evaluate airport maintenance personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
Participate in the development and administration of assigned budget; forecast funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; recommend adjustments as necessary.
Provide staff assistance to the Airport Facilities Manager participate on a variety of committees; prepare and present staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary.
Coordinate airport maintenance activities with those of other divisions and outside agencies and organizations.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of airport maintenance.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Associate’s degree in building construction or construction management; and
Five (5) years of building or facility maintenance experience; and
To include one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a New Mexico Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card as determined by the criteria set forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
Successful completion of a security background check conducted by U.S. Customs & Border Protection, if applicable.

Airport environment; exposure to heat, cold, noise.
Physical:
