Biography

Derryl Benton is Executive Vice President of Business Development for HMSHost, a $2.7 billion global restaurateur operating in more than 100 airports around the globe, including the 20 busiest airports in North America.

Prior to joining HMSHost, he held the position of Senior Vice President of Business Development for Hudson Group, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dufry, a publically traded company on the Swiss Stock Exchange.

Mr. Benton has an extensive background in finance and aviation management and holds a Master Director Certification from the American College of Corporate Directors (a public company director education and credentialing organization). Mr. Benton was nominated to complete the training by the National Urban League through an initiative to prepare African Americans for corporate board service. He received honors as a recipient of the Florida Governor LeRoy Collins Distinguished Community College Alumni Award by the Florida Community College Association.

Prior to joining Hudson Group, Mr. Benton worked with the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority where he was responsible for the Authority’s $500-million concessions program as well as the Small Business Development Program.

Mr. Benton also held the position of Vice President with SunTrust Bank, NA, over a period of 10 years and prior to that, the positions of Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, and City Commissioner for the City of Eustis, Florida. He was appointed by the Governor to the Florida Black Business Investment Board, the Florida Economic Growth and International Development Commission and the Regional 14 Coordinating Council for Vocational Education.
