The Tweed-New Haven Airport Authority is seeking an Executive Director for the Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN). The Airport Authority Executive Director, reporting directly to the Board of Directors, oversees the development, management, and operation of the Tweed-New Haven Airport and ensures the Authority complies with all airport sponsor obligations. In cooperation with the Board of Directors, Avports HVN, The New HVN, government officials, and other airport stakeholders, the Executive Director will coordinate, direct and oversee all activities at the Airport. A key role of this position is to coordinate with the New HVN and other strategic partners in efforts to attract / maintain air service, while working to identify additional economic development opportunities for the Airport.

Currently the Executive Director is the sole employee of the Airport Authority, and it is anticipated the Director will assess the need and engage administrative support.

The Executive Director will oversee all operations and development by Avports HVN, including ensuring compliance with all Sponsor Grant Assurances and obligations, and with all federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and policies. In cooperation with all airport stakeholders, the Executive Director will coordinate, direct, and oversee all operational and financial activities at the Airport. This position will oversee and supervise planning, environmental review, development, and construction of airfield improvements including a planned runway extension.

The Executive Director position will require an individual who has well developed political acumen and enjoys interacting with the public in this high-profile environment. Serving as the liaison with government agencies, including the City of New Haven, the Town of East Haven, Connecticut Airports Authority, FAA, and TSA, the Executive Director must demonstrate the ability to communicate messages in a compelling and concise manner. This position will require the interpersonal skills to interact positively, collaboratively, and effectively with elected officials, local business leaders, other government directors, managers, local, state, and federal agency representatives, media representatives, passengers, airport neighbors and members of the public to find common ground and ensure all feel heard. The Executive Director will plan, organize, and execute monthly Airport Authority Board meetings, including establishing the agenda and maintaining Board records.

The Ideal Candidate

Minimum of 10 years of airport management experience including at least 5-7 years of senior management experience. Demonstrated extensive and varied management experience with strong leadership skills having an emphasis on strategic planning, contract/lease oversight and enforcement, sponsor obligations, and community and political relations. Demonstrated experience working with elected and appointed government officials in a highly visible, and often politically sensitive, environment.

Salary & Benefits
