Vice President of Planning and Engineering – TUS

The Tucson Airport Authority is seeking a Vice President of Planning and Engineering. The VP of Planning and Engineering is a member of the TAA Executive Team and will report to the President/CEO of the TAA. The position is responsible for the strategic leadership, planning, coordination and management of airport development projects, programs, and initiatives for the TAA at the operated airports. The role includes land planning, noise programs, environmental management, engineering and architectural project design, development, construction administration, major maintenance and capital improvement programs and other areas related to airfield and landside development. The position is also responsible for department budget, strategic goals and objectives, as well as employee development and employee performance. The Vice President interfaces with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including TAA Board Members, community leaders, local, state, military, and federal agencies, community organizations and the public. There is extensive contact with the TAA Strategic Marketing and Communications staff for outreach activities. The Vice President is well positioned and has the opportunity to lead the transformation of the Planning and Engineering Division.

Position Qualifications

Qualifications for the Vice President of Planning and Engineering are a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, urban or regional planning, or similar field. Master’s Degree preferred. A minimum of ten years of progressive management and high-level supervisory experience working for a commercial service airport or equivalent (military), or in a consultant capacity; previous experience at a small, medium, or large hub airport, military, or airport consultant experience preferred. PE, AICP or AIA preferred; industry credential, e.g., AMPAP, I.A.P., A.A.E, preferred. Must have strong organizational leadership skills to lead a high performing organization, exhibit strong project planning execution capabilities, advanced relationship management skills and extensive experience working with stakeholders to bring project strategies from concept to successful completion.

Salary & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $153,210 – $229,815. A starting salary above the mid-point is achievable for the exceptional candidate and will be dependent upon experience. Additional annual compensation as an incentive bonus based on organizational performance is determined annually, as budget resources allow. A comprehensive benefits package includes options for medical, dental, life insurance, etc.

The TAA has adopted a flexible work environment and administrative staff may work remote with the expectation that responsibilities are managed without delay or disruption, and quality of work product and deliverables meet or exceed expectations.
