Mineta San José International Airport (SJC) is recruiting for a Marketing Manager to lead a team of creative and analytical professionals to develop, execute and continually evaluate the Airport’s worldwide marketing programs and initiatives that drive measurable growth in passengers, non-airline revenue and awareness of the Airport’s value to the communities it serves. The Marketing Manager leads the Airport’s engagement in owned and paid media, including traditional and digital advertising, sponsorship programs, grassroots/ experiential marketing, influencer and social media marketing, and multimedia content development/ production. This position is also responsible for managing the Airport’s contract(s) with outside creative agencies and consultants, as well as the Airport’s website content (including optimizing for UX, SEO, etc.). While this position is not primarily responsible for earned media and community outreach, the incumbent may be required to assist the Division by delivering public presentations and serving as a Public Information Officer and/or representing the Airport at community events, including on evenings and weekends.

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in journalism, mass media communications, public relations, advertising, marketing or a closely related field, and six (6) years of increasingly responsible consumer (B2C) marketing, advertising, mass media communications, public relations or public information experience, including three (3) years of supervisory experience. Experience managing marketing/advertising agency contracts is required. Marketing experience in the aviation and/or travel and tourism industry (airport, airline, destination marketing organization, etc.) as well as experience serving as media spokesperson are each a plus.
  • Licenses/Certificates: Possession of a valid California driver’s license may be required.
  • Employment Eligibility: Federal law requires all employees to provide verification of their eligibility to work in this country. Candidates are required to satisfactorily complete and pass a fingerprint based Criminal History Records Check prior to being considered for a position in this class at the Airport.

This Airport position requires a background check and a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) check. The candidate must be fingerprinted and qualify under all applicable TSA and Airport regulations

Compensation & Benefits

The approved salary range for this position is $124,044 – $151,825. The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience. In addition to the starting salary, employees in this classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) on-going non-pensionable pay bonus.
