Airfield Operations Electrical Technician

Under general supervision the Airfield Operations Electrical Technician, performs maintenance of Airport runways and taxiways lighting and control systems and performs work related as required. Also performs inspections and operational duties on the Air Operations Area in accordance with FAR Part 139 and the Savannah Airport Commission’s Airport Certification Manual. This position is considered safety sensitive and/or requires access to the safety sensitive areas as required under FAA and DOT regulations.

Position Requirements and Qualifications:

§  High school graduate or GED equivalent required.

§  Journeyman Electrical License

§  Five or more years in-depth experience in airfield electrical systems required.

§  Ability to design and install airfield lighting systems.

§  Training courses in electrical diagnostics and repair of airfield lighting and control systems desired.

§  Ability to communicate using a two-way radio system and the telephone.

§  Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and/or written) with others.

§  Ability to legibly and accurately record and prepare information on various reporting forms.

§  Ability to read, interpret, and explain applications, regulations, plans, and specifications.

§  Possess knowledge of maintenance equipment, tools, and materials used in the field of airport or public works maintenance.

§  Possess knowledge of vehicle and equipment operations.

§ Possess knowledge of plans and blueprint reading and interpretation

§  Ability to meet and maintain Transportation Security Administration requirements authorizing unescorted access entry to the AOA (Airfield Operations Area), sterile area, or secured area.

§  Possession of a valid GA Driver’s License.
