The AirTrain Director is responsible for all aspects of the daily operations of SFO’s Airtrain system including managing staff, budgetary responsibilities, and developing and maintaining policies and operational procedures to ensure a safe, reliable, and efficient transit service to SFO passengers and employees. Duties include authorizing design and procedural changes to the system operation and maintenance; managing and supervising Airtrain staff; monitoring and directing the Operation and Maintenance contractor to ensure compliance with contract requirements and maximize system availability; directing and monitoring the AirTrain Section’s annual budget and expenditures including the annual operation and maintenance contract to ensure system upgrades or replacements are completed and appropriately budgeted; managing all AirTrain contracts including negotiating and complying to the Airport and City and County of San Francisco’s contract rules and regulations and ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal requirements and reporting. The AirTrain Director also recommends improvements to modernize and maintain the integrity of the AirTrain system and coordinates with Operation and Maintenance contractor, various SFO Stakeholders and System Provider to resolve all operational failures. Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; AND
Experience: Five 5 years of professional experience in transit operations management and administration which must include at least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Education Substitution: Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required education on a year-to-year basis. One year (2000 hours) of additional qualifying work experience will be considered equivalent to 30 semester units/45 quarter units.
Desirable Qualifications: Preferred degree/education in mechanical, electrical, or other related engineering discipline.
