The Communications Department is looking for a highly organized individual with demonstrated executive-level speech writing skills in a Senior Communications Specialist role. Enjoy a flexible telecommuting schedule (2 – 3 days remote, 2 – 3 days on-site) as you develop talking points, speeches, and PowerPoint presentations for Authority executives, develop website content, partner with the Director, Communications to develop and execute strategic communication plans and:

  1. Produce internal and external communications, messages, speeches, correspondence, and reports for executives and the CEO; develop materials and content that aligns with Authority’s established voice and values.
  2. Design, implement and lead communication objectives, strategies, and projects in alignment with organizational vision, initiatives, and performance measures; identify and integrate strategies and brand identity.
  3. Cultivate and maintain partnership and collaborative relationships with the media, internal stakeholders, community, organizations, and influencers; participate and represent the organization in the community; remain current with organizational initiatives, current affairs, and connect with stakeholders on these issues.
  4. Manage internal editorial and review process for all written content, including executive speeches, press releases, articles and media announcements, website content and social media messaging.
  5. Serve as a media spokesperson on behalf of the Authority.



  1. Business Process Knowledge: Identifies, documents, and monitors processes and develops framework for processes and improvement.
  2. Communication: Proficiently presents information through various channels including verbal (public speaking skills), digital, written, facilitation, and persuasion both in a group and one-on-one forum.
  3. Critical Thinking: Critically reviews and translates business requirements, data and related information for a wide range of audiences in support of business objectives and strategies.
  4. Problem-Solving/Agility: Analyzes situations and collaboratively generates solutions, readily adapts behavior or new work methods, in evolving and unexpected situations.
  5. Relationship Management: Builds and maintains relations with stakeholders, identifies and relates information, ideas and problems, champions initiatives and ideas based on mutually acceptable solutions.
  6. Leveraging Technology: Effective use of information electronically and associated systems.


Experience & Education:

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, business administration or a closely related field.
  • Seven years of public affairs, public information, journalism, or community outreach experience.
  • Or an equivalent combination of training and experience.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing, business administration or a closely related field.
  • Accreditation in Public Relations.

The starting hiring salary for this position is $87,235.

Pay range for this position is $74,560 – $119,296.
