Under direction, the Airport Operations Officer supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for airport operational, safety and security functions on a 24-hour basis; enforces all applicable federal, state and local safety and security rules, regulations, and procedures; represents airport management as required and ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures; and performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.

This recruitment may be used to fill vacancies as they become available in the areas of Airside Operations, Landside Operations, Facilities, and Safety Management Systems.  Also, may be assigned to any airport within the Sacramento County Department of Airports System.

Facilities – May provide oversight to any number of facility related needs including the intake of maintenance requests, custodial needs, facility inspections, furnishings/fixtures/equipment needs, tenant improvement plan review, energy usage, etc.

Airside Operations – FAR Part 139 compliance, emergency response, gate management, and act as senior management representative as needed.

Landside Operations – Terminal operations, parking and ground transportation, and curb management.

Safety Management Systems – Processing of hazard reports, facilitating of Risk Assessments, managing approved mitigations, managing cultural change, overseeing implementation of new technologies, and training officer responsibilities for the Maintenance Division.
