The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority (RTAA) is seeking an individual with experience managing the safe, secure, orderly and efficient activities and operations of an airfield at a Part 139 commercial airport to join our Operations & Public Safety team and lead our Airport Operations Department as the Manager. There is one (1) position open. At the RTAA, the Manager of Airport Operations is a key member of the Operations & Public Safety team and reports to the Vice-President of Operations & Public Safety. The Manager of Airport Operations is responsible for managing and directing the day-to-day operations of the Airport Operations department, which has primary responsibility for providing oversight, coordination, integration and communication for all airfield and terminal activities in accordance with FAA Part 139 regulations, the Airport Certification Manual, the Airport Emergency Plan, TSA Part 1542, and any other applicable regulations, directives, rules, policies or procedures at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The Manager of Airport Operations is also responsible for providing coordination during emergency operations.

The nature of the position requires the ability to organize and direct complex projects and programs; ability to use sound judgment and discretion in determining optimal strategies for meeting departmental goals and objectives; the ability to develop tactical plans and achieve strategic goals; the ability to identify and implement innovative and efficient solutions; the ability to act decisively in irregular operational circumstances and/or emergency situations to ensure safety and operational efficiency; excellent business communication skills; and the ability to establish, maintain and foster effective working relationships.

Entry Salary: $77,225 – $97,304 annually, with opportunity for additional merit-based increases up to a range maximum of $117,382 annually.  Initial salary placement will be based upon experience and qualifications.  This is a management, at-will position, which is salaried and is exempt from overtime.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in aviation management, business administration, public administration, or a closely related field.  An equivalent combination of directly related airport operations management experience and training may be substituted on a year for year basis (e.g., one year of full-time experience will be considered equivalent to thirty (30) semester or (45) quarter units of college course work).

Required Experience: Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in managing airport operations, inspections and compliance activities at a Part 139 Commercial Airport, which must include two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Preferred Experience: Supervision of professional personnel involved in the operations of the airport.

Required Licensing and Certifications: A valid driver’s license is required at the time of application, and incumbent must maintain a valid driver’s license thereafter as a condition of continuing employment.

Incumbent must obtain an Airport Security Coordinator certification within the first year of employment, and maintain such certification thereafter as a condition of continuing employment.

Incumbent must complete RTAA airfield driver training within the first thirty (30) days of employment, and maintain such training thereafter.

Incumbent must obtain certificates of completion from the Department of Homeland Security (FEMA) National Incident Management System (NIMS) training – IS100, IS200, IS300, IS400, IS700, and IS800B – within one (1) year of the date of hire as a condition of continuing employment.
