Reporting to the Vice-President, Commercial, Projects and Planning, the Manager, Projects will oversee all Capital Airport Projects including new construction and life cycle rehabilitation with a focus on largely Civil project work. The Manager, Projects is responsible for planning, executing, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications to achieve these important goals, the Manager, Projects will define project requirements and scope, acquire project resources, and supervise the efforts of project team members. Efficient delivery of project deliverables, effective quality control, and clear communication of expectations to stakeholders, and reporting to senior management are critical tasks that must be performed throughout each project lifecycle.

As the Manager, Projects you will:

Assist with ensuring appropriate response procedures are carried out in the event of an emergency.

Perform all duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with the companies Mission, Vision, Corporate Values, while promoting safety awareness.

Assist with ensuring appropriate response procedures are carried out in the event of an emergency.

Develop detailed project plans with scope, goals, objectives, risks, assumptions, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring resource availability and allocation and delivering projects on time and within budget and scope.

Coordinate communications, plans and approvals with various stakeholders, RAA management, project delivery teams and business divisions.

Develop, create, and maintain strategic relationships with outside vendors and contractors, preparing scope statements, obtain bids, and negotiate purchase orders.

Oversee and monitor contractors’ performance and ensure timely completion of projects.

Strong working knowledge of regulatory changes that may impact tenants.

Provide interface and cohesiveness with the numerous departments that impact project management.

Coordinate with Design and Construction leaders to maintain standards and procedures.

Coordinate production of RFPs and standing offers for project service.

Problem solving with the City and outside approval authorities having jurisdiction on development matters.

You and Your Experience:

Post-secondary education in civil engineering including P. Eng. or Civil Engineering Technologists and/or project management, or other relevant areas.

Knowledge of process involved in the design/permitting/construction processes, with a particular focus on the airport environment.

Excellent familiarity with and demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of project management methods like construction management and design-bid-build.

Ability to make decisions and work independently to keep projects on time and on budget.

Skills to handle contracts and liability concerns present in development projects.

Strong organizational skills and document control with the ability to prioritize and work with a sense of urgency.

Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all staff, including technical, professional, and senior management.

Highly effective negotiation, diplomatic and conflict resolution skills.

Construction plan reading and thorough working knowledge of National Building Code.

Computer Software (minimum intermediate skill set in): Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD.

Extensive technical and problem-solving experience.

Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with business units, corporate departments, key managers, and other stakeholders.
