Some of what you’ll be doing:

As the Senior Manager, Airport Operations – Terminal, you will be responsible for the efficiency and continuity of operations 24/7/365 for 450,000 aircraft movements and $50 million passengers and growing.

  • You will lead and direct all aspects of Terminal Operations at SEA.
  • You will have oversite for security checkpoints flow, the flow of customers through the International Arrival Facility, management of ticket counter, gate and baggage claim facilities, Airport Communication Center, airline scheduling, hold room furnishings and fixtures, SLOA compliance, Terminal capital projects development, and emergency management.
  • You will develop long-term strategies and plans to ensure that customer experience and efficiency are a priority.
    You will make sure innovative ideas, products, applications, and principles are applied to make best use of the airport terminal facility in delivering world-class 5-star products and services to airlines and the traveling public in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible.
  • You will make recommendations on capital programs construction, alterations, and maintenance activities at the airport facilities.
  • You will propose and develop business cases for capital and expense programs and projects, both large and small, for improving efficiency and customer experience related to the terminal.
  • You will provide direction, performance management, and career development to Terminal Operations staff of approximately 5 management staff and additional subordinate teams of represented and non-represented work groups.
  • You will ensure that teams are appropriately staffed to handle business needs on a daily basis, and staff are trained in irregular operations procedures.
  • You will be responsible for labor contract negotiations for represented groups.
  • You will identify operational priorities as they arise and lead to solutions or responses from airport personnel.
  • You will develop solutions that maintain continuity of operations and operational needs, intent and requirements of airlines, government agencies and other Port stakeholders, related to the terminal.
  • You will maintain relationships and communications with organizations outside the Port of Seattle, including airlines and government agencies at local, regional, state, and federal levels, as necessary to ensure the smooth operation of Terminal Operations.
  • You will manage an expense budget of approximately $20 million for Terminal Operations and prepare and present budget documents at all levels of the organization, including for Commission approval.
  • You will manage and influence capital development program work/decisions so that existing operations remain efficient.
  • You will step in for the Director of Airport Operations and assume primary airport operational responsibility in the on-call rotation.

Who you are:
Two years of experience may be substituted for one year of education:

  • Experienced – You have eight (8) years of experience in operations management in a large airport.
  • Educated – You possess a Certified Manager (C.M.) designation from American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE).
  • Desired – We hope you have ten (10) years of leadership experience in an airport or airline environment and a Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) from AAAE, International Airport Program (IAP) from Airports Council International (ACI) or NIMS certifications.

What else you need to know: 

  • Driver’s License – You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.
  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You will be required to work during emergencies.
  • Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
  • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
