As the Manager ADM Operations, you will be responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, career development, and management of all Airport Duty Managers (ADMs). You will also develop and manage the ADM program and ensure consistency, accountability, and continuity of operations in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • You will be responsible for the equitable hiring of new Airport Duty Managers and ensure that the new ADMs are consistently and thoroughly trained on Landside, Terminal, Airfield, Cargo, and Safety Management System (SMS) disciplines of Airport Operations.
  • You will ensure compliance and proper record keeping for all regulatory and required ADM training and ensure training materials are maintained and updated accurately including obtaining their Qualified Personnel (reference FAR Part 139.303) status in a timely manner and address deficiencies.
  • You will develop new training material when necessary, including for emerging industry technology and new software.
  • You will develop ADM schedule to meet operational needs and conduct shift and vacation bids in accordance with contract requirements.
  • You will be responsible to adjust the schedule as necessary to meet airline schedule changes or special operational needs such as snow and other emergent issues/events occurring at the airport.
  • You will be responsible for reviewing and approving ADM payroll and consistent accountability for attendance.
  • You will ensure completion ADM job required tasks, including required reporting and documentation and shift reports in a high-quality manner.
  • You will provide day to day coaching of ADMs and determine opportunities for additional training and promotion and provide stretch assignments to ADM to promote their growth and whole program knowledge.
  • You will be responsible for assigning Areas of Special Responsibility to ADMs, including defining related performance objectives and deliverables.
  • You will proactively manage performance transgressions and disciplinary issues in compliance with the CBA and Port policy.
  • You will develop strong relationships with other POS Aviation departments and airport tenants, government agencies and gain a deep understanding of their needs.
  • You will create partnerships with Operation Senior Managers and other operations managers and solicit feedback/buy-in/expertise towards the ADM Programs and staff on ways to improve and enhance performance.
  • You will strategically collaborate across the Airport to ensure safe operations in compliance with federal, state, and Port regulations and policy.
  • You will provide strategic direction and leadership related to promoting the continuity of the ADM program across all airport business operations, public safety, and business continuity.
  • You will provide leadership when events escalate and mitigate events through planning, short-term and long-term goals setting, and setting an example as innovative, proactive, and responsive.
  • You will be responsible for development and ongoing management of ADM operating budget of $2.5M and build business cases and identify related financial impacts from major capital projects and/or changing operational programs.
  • You will be responsibility for on-call duties related to emergency responses as appropriate.
  • You will serve on teams for the execution of the Airport Emergency Plan, Unified Command, the National Incident Management System.
  • You will provide leadership of rules and regulations enforcement as well as terminal and airfield inspections.

Who you are:
Two years of experience may be substituted for one year of education:

  • Experienced – You have five (5) years of experience as an Airport Duty Manager or equivalent position and prior leadership experience with direct reports.  Ability to obtain Qualified Status (QP) within 6 months and maintain QP status while in this position.
  • Educated – You possess a Bachelors degree and are a American Association of Airport Executives Certified Member (AAAE C.M.).
  • Desired – We hope you have a Masters degree and ten (10) years of experience managing aviation/maintenance programs, a diverse operations staff of managers and represented employees at a large hub and/or one of the following American Association of Airport Executives, Airport Certified Employee- Operations (AAAE ACE), American Association of Airport Executives, Accredited Airport Executive (AAAE AAE), Airport’s Council International – Airport Executive Leadership Program (ACI AELP), FAA Private Pilot License, FAA ATC License, Airline Dispatcher.

What else you need to know:

  • Union Representation – The ADM’s have been certified to become represented on October 5, 2021 and are currently negotiating a contract.
  • Driver’s License – You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one, is required in order to travel locally to project sites.
  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). However more flexible start and end times are required in this role. You may be required to work during emergencies.
  • Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment. However, you will also be required to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions. You may be exposed to areas of high noise, various hazardous materials, work at heights and/or in confined spaces.
  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement – Effective, November 15, 2021, the Port of Seattle will require that at the time of hire, and as a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be able to provide proof of their full COVID-19 vaccination status, as part of the hiring process. This is a condition of employment for all positions at the Port of Seattle.   • Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You will also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
