Some of what you’ll be doing:
As the Manager of the Airport Communications Center (ACC), you will be managing critical service delivery functions of staff to Aviation Division departments and airport tenants.  You will also provide operational support, continuity of operations and develop creative and progressive management and business solutions to coincide with the challenges of accelerated change.

  • You will provide overall leadership, management and day to day support of staff within the Airport Communications Center.
  • You will provide oversight of the Aircraft Gate Scheduling process, Security system monitoring and dispatching, maintenance problem call reporting and dispatching, Satellite Transit System operation, Baggage Handling System monitoring and escalation of issues, Emergent notification system and procedures and overall call center management.
  • You will maintain FAR 139.303 Qualified Personnel status to provide operational support, continuity of operations and act as a liaison to the Airport Duty Manager team.
  • You will respond to airport emergencies and provides support and coordination on a 24/7 basis.
  • You will develop and maintain effective communications with other departments, including; 911 Dispatch Center, Operations, Security, Maintenance and Business Development.
  • You will develop and maintain relationships and communications with organizations outside the Port of Seattle, including but not limited to airlines and government agencies at local, regional, state and federal levels.
  • You will coordinate, devise and deliver initial and recurrent training to staff.
  • You will maintain awareness of latest developments of industry technology, information technology and organizational design, making recommendations for improvements, updates and upgrades to all systems within ACC while ensuring compatibility with existing and planned technologies.
  • You will develop and manage annual team budget.
  • You will be responsible to adherence to applicable labor contract and participation in the Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations.

Who you are:
 Two years of experience may be substituted for one year of education:

  • Experienced – You have five (5) years of experience in aviation management at a large hub airport or in a large communications center, and are an American Association of Airport Executives Certified Member or possess a Airport Operations Certificate.
  • Educated – You possess a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation or related field.
  • Desired – We hope you have two (2) years of experience working in a communication center at a large hub and/or have completed the AAAE Accredited Airport Executive program.
  • Communication – You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  You can articulate ideas and processes to a broad audience and a variety of customers.
  • Leadership – You’re able critically evaluate risk, make sound decisions and provide logical options, and provide clear direction and mentoring to staff and our customers.
  • Judgment – You have excellent judgment and can react quickly and calmly in stressful and hazardous situations.
  • Planning – You have planning skills to manage complex operations while maintaining a productive workforce; the ability to lead with an emphasis on exceptional customer service.

What else you need to know: 

  • Driver’s License – You will need a valid Washington State Driver’s License, or the ability to obtain one.
    Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work during emergencies.
  • Work Environment – You will primarily work in an office environment.
  • Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance. You may also be required to obtain a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Customs Seal within 30 days of hire.
