Airport Architectural Director

Philadelphia International Airport

This is administrative architectural work directing, through professional, technical support and administrative staff, and consultants all architectural or architectural/engineering design at the Airport. An employee in this class directs the design, renovation and construction of all terminal building airport architectural projects, and the activities of architectural, engineering, and technical staff engaged in performing and/or managing contractual agreements. Employees provide administrative supervision to staff level and lower-level architects. Employees in this class work under the general direction of the Deputy Director of Aviation.

Completion of a bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college or university with major course work in architecture or architectural engineering.

Six years of professional architectural or engineering experience.


  • Two years of administrative managerial experience as an architectural project or engineering project manager in a major hub airport or large industrial or commercial facility with responsibility for directing staff and the design or construction phases of assigned projects.
  • Physical & Medical Requirements
    Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.

Required Licenses & Certifications
Must pass and maintain SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) and AOA (Airfield Operations Area) clearance at the time of appointment and during tenure of employment as an Architectural Manager.
