Under the general direction of the Terminal Operations Supervisor and Airport Operations Manager, performs journeyman electrician level in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring systems, lighting, equipment and airfield lighting systems. Incumbent will also complete technical work in inspecting, installing, trouble shooting, and repairing electrical systems on the landside of the airport and perform other job duties as assigned.

Examples of Duties

Installs, maintains, and repairs wiring, lighting, and electrical systems on Airport owned facilities including baggage belts, loading bridges, runway lighting, air conditioning controls, public address systems, and ensures that all work is done in compliance with the National Electrical Code and Federal Aviation Administration regulations and requirements.
Maintains all airport owned electrical lighting and signage of the airfield.
Responds to electrical trouble calls as needed to make necessary electrical repairs.  Determines cause of electrical problem and identifies needed materials and equipment to perform required tasks.
Uses a variety of electronic test equipment to ensure accuracy of diagnosis and repair.  Maintains records and completes job orders.  Maintains equipment and tools in working order.
Makes schematic diagrams of work completed to provide a record of installations and directs the work of assistant.  Provides on-the-job training for electrical helpers and apprentices.
Inspects and monitors work performed by others for the airport and tenants to ensure proper installation, maintenance, repairs, etc.  Reports orally and in writing to supervision regarding work completed and needed.
May supervise others in performing various tasks.
Performs preventative maintenance on runway and taxiway lighting, signage and aircraft parking areas.
Maintain and repair airport terminal concourse lighting and wiring.
Maintain proper operation of backup generators.
Must be willing to work variable hours, to include weekends and holidays; may be assigned during hazardous weather (hurricanes) , emergencies and/ or special events.
Must be willing to work an on-call basis
