Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Public Affairs and Marketing, the primary objective of the Marketing Coordinator is to promote brand awareness and availability of airlines/destinations available at MKE to increase the number of passengers using the Airport, creating demand that results in more and better nonstop air service for our community. This position manages the Airport’s image in national, local and aviation arenas through effective media relations, electronic communication, passenger experience practices, and emergency communication.

Essential Responsibilities:

Coordinates Airport’s integrated marketing strategy, direction and tactics for both Mitchell and Timmerman Airports.
Assigns work and directs production/scheduling of advertising campaigns as part of $250,000 annual advertising agency contract.
Utilizes superior graphic design skills to develop eye-catching marketing initiatives to increase revenue generated from retail/dining concessions and airport-owned parking facilities.
Analyzes results of advertising campaigns and promotions.
Manages Airport’s involvement with business, civic, tourism and corporate travel groups in Wisconsin and Illinois, including development and execution of sponsorships and sweepstakes.
Represents Airport at travel trade organizations and corporate travel planner meetings in both states.
Provides leadership and oversight of a staff of 40+ volunteers across three shifts at the Airport Information desk during all flight hours, ensuring professional passenger assistance and issue resolution.
Ensures consistent delivery of the brand promise by providing input on passenger amenities and wayfinding. Manages electronic displays throughout the terminal.
Serves as a 24/7 media manager for both Mitchell and Timmerman Airports.
Develops news releases, talking points, and alerts for release to media. Produces Airport newsletters/email blasts to the public.
Drafts speeches for Airport Director, produces visual presentations, and presents Airport information to community organizations.
Manages content on three Airport-operated websites, including data feeds/applications from outside vendors, which receive more than four million hits/month and play a critical role in passenger information.
Oversees the Airport’s social media presence on Facebook (31,000 fans), Twitter (13,000 followers), and Instagram. Executes social media contests.
Produces internal news updates to engage all Airport employee workgroups.
Plans/executes events to celebrate milestone achievements, including new air service/airport amenities, news conferences, and partnerships with other departments and outside organizations.
Hosts airport booth, promoting the Airport and aviation careers at travel fairs and community events.
Serves as Airport liaison to VISIT Milwaukee (marketing committee), Wisconsin DOT (Bureau of Aeronautics), aviation trade associations, the summer A.C.E. student employment program and the Milwaukee County Marketing & Communications Council.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, graphic arts/design or a closely related field. Five (5) years or more of experience in marketing, communication, public relations and graphic design.  A valid driver’s license is also required.

Special Instructions: This Original Examination is open to current residents of  the United States. State of Wisconsin residency is required within six months of hire. The selection process will be job related and will consist of one or more of the following: education and experience evaluation; written, oral, or performance tests, or other assessment methods.
