Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport invites applicants for the position of Airport Planner II/III. This position will report to and take direction from the Airport Department’s Planner IV and the Deputy Director for the Planning and Development Division. This position conducts research, coordination, and project/program implementation for a variety of airport planning activities including long- and short-range facility planning, off-airport land use compatibility planning, and local, state, and federal regulatory compliance. A minimum of two years of experience in airport planning or a related aviation discipline is required. Supplemental experience in local land use planning or a related discipline is desirable, but not required.

Planner II: annual salary range is $83,054.40 – $100,900.80, hourly range is $39.93 – $48.51

Planner III: annual salary range is $95,014.40 – $115,772.80, hourly range is $45.68 – $55.66

Qualifications:

Planner II:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in aviation management or planning, transportation studies, urban/regional planning, civil or transportation engineering, or a closely related field, plus a minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional airport or aviation experience.

Planner III:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in aviation management or planning, transportation studies, urban/regional planning, civil or transportation engineering, or a closely related field, plus a minimum of four (4) years of relevant professional airport or aviation experience.

Acceptable Substitution:  Master’s Degree or sixty (60) semester hours of graduate course work from an accredited college or university in a field mentioned or closely related to the above can substitute for one (1) year of relevant professional airport or aviation experience.
