As the Airline Business Development Program Manager, you will be responsible for critical research and data accumulation for identifying new, or enhancing existing, routes and airline business opportunities, while assisting in the development and implementation of strategies to maintain and drive demand for air service at Washington Dulles International and Reagan National Airports.

Serves in the Office of Airline Business Development in the Office of Chief Revenue Officer at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD).

In support of the Vice President and the Airline Business Development Directors (ABDD), provides critical research and data accumulation for identifying new, or enhancing existing, routes and airline business opportunities.  Develops integral network leads and liaisons influencing marketing decisions and leveraging new business opportunities.  Tracks and anticipates market trends and proactively prepares team by providing key data to include forecasts and critical analysis.  Performs related functions.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides critical research and data accumulation for identifying new, or enhancing existing, routes and airline business opportunities, while assisting in the development and implementation of strategies to maintain and drive demand for air service at Washington Dulles International and Reagan National Airports.

Tracks and anticipates market trends and proactively prepares team by providing key data to include forecasts and critical analysis.

Develops integral network leads and liaisons influencing marketing decisions and leveraging new business opportunities.

Creates opportunities to enhance the culture of community engagement in pursuit of air service expansion.

Researches and recommends short- and long-term business opportunities targets for the ABDD.

Works with the ABDD to develop outreach programs with business, tourism, corporate travel management, and economic development leaders. Educates and influences target audiences about positive economic impacts of air service to the region and to enlist support for initiatives.

Accompanies the ABDD in meetings with airlines.

Represents the Airports Authority at route development forums.

Attends industry conferences to remain current and develop a broad professional network.

Assists the ABDD in administering Airline Incentive and Cooperative Marketing Programs.

Analyzes data, creates reports, and updates traffic, cargo, and passenger forecasts and comparisons.

Develops and maintains understanding of regulatory policies and issues affecting the airline industry.

Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Six years of progressively responsible experience in business development, marketing, and sales.

Ability to implement client acquisition techniques, client retention, business development and planning, and sales activity tracking and reporting.

Knowledge of market trends, economic conditions, and business economics and the ability to identify and prioritize business opportunities.

Skill in networking and interacting effectively with business contacts.

Ability to perform detailed analyses of data and information and make recommendations.

Ability to speak and write effectively.

Skill in using a computer and modern office suite software, with emphasis on spreadsheet software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience developing airline business (international or domestic).

Experience with airline route planning.

Experience securing agreements with airlines, cargo carriers, and other organizations.

Experience working with business leaders, and economic development and tourism key representatives.

EDUCATION:

A Bachelor’s Degree in any field.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

A state driver’s license in good standing.

A valid passport prior to hire, promotion, or placement in the job.

NECESSARY SPECIAL FACTORS:

Must maintain a valid passport.

Work is typically reviewed in progress upon completion for quantity, quality, timeliness, teamwork, customer service, and other factors
