MDOT MAA is currently accepting applications for the position of Sustainability Manager (Program Manager II) within the Office of Environmental Compliance & Sustainability
at the Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall Airport).
The Sustainability Manager supports MDOT MAA’s Environmental Mission Statement through the development, coordination, implementation, and management of MDOT MAA’s Sustainability Program to meet the goals and objectives outlined in the Sustainability Framework approved by MDOT.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  •  Ensuring BWI Marshall and Martin State Airports activities and operations comply with
    all federal and state environmental laws and regulations.
  •  Ensuring MDOT MAA proactively identifies and implements resource efficiency and sustainable business practices during project planning, design, construction, and ongoing operation and maintenance of its facilities.
  •  Managing environmental risks, controlling pollution, continuously improving
    environmental performance, and sustainably operating and maintaining the airports in the best interest of the State of Maryland and airport users.

 This position is located at BWI Marshall Airport in Anne Arundel County, MD

 Education:  Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Sustainability, or a closely related field.

 Experience:  Five (5) years of experience advising on, managing, and supervising sustainability initiatives and/or work relating to environmental compliance & sustainability program development and implementation.

  • The ideal candidate will possess the following: 
    Sustainability Professional Training or certification (e.g., Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Professional Certification, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting Credential, CDP Climate Change Survey Certification, or Integrated Reporting (IR) Fundamentals of Integrated Reporting Certificate).
  • Experience managing projects and effectively coordinating with internal staff and external consultants, vendors, and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
