The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Aviation Administration (MDOT MAA) is currently accepting resumes for the position of Director of Air Service Development, within the Division of Marketing & Air Service Development at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI Marshall) and Martin State Airport (MTN). The Director of Air Service Development is responsible for managing the BWI Marshall air service team in its air service development program, coordinating internal staff resources with external economic and legal consultants to increase domestic and international passenger and cargo air service by both existing and new entrant airlines. This is the most revenue-growth producing function for the agency. A new air service typically produces $500,000 or more annually in additional revenues to the Administration from landing fees, rent, and other user charges, and additional expenditures by passengers and cargo users. This position manages the day-to-day contact with key decision makers in various airlines and coordinates the agency’s approach to each carrier with the appropriate marketing, operations and commercial management staff.

This position receives general administrative and procedural guidance from the MDOT MAA’s Chief of Marketing & Air Service Development.

This position is located at Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in aviation management, marketing, business administration, economics, or a related field from an accredited college or university.

Five (5) years of experience in air service development or related experience of which should include a hub airport with international service. This experience should also include conducting domestic and international air service/airline and/or route analysis as well as presenting and negotiating air service opportunities with domestic airlines.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
