Greenville–Spartanburg International Airport (GSP) is located near Greer, South Carolina, midway between Greenville and Spartanburg. The airport is the second busiest airport in South Carolina with nearly 1.1 million enplanements in 2017.
The Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, similar to many of the nation’s top 100 commercial service airports, is a political subdivision of the State of South Carolina that operates without taxpayer subsidy.

There are six major airlines at GSP: Allegiant, American, Delta, Frontier, Southwest and United. Combined, these airlines offer:
• An average of 50 nonstop daily departures
• Nonstop service to 16 major cities and 19 major airports across the U.S.
Over 100 million pounds of cargo are loaded on and off planes every year at GSP. The airport also handles over 1000 just in time cargo (hot shot) flights each year.
The Marketing Specialist will assist in the development and implementation of events, promotions, marketing strategies, research, and advertising designed to increase awareness and usage of Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. The individual will have a proven ability to independently manage multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities and deadlines. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently and in team environments and maintain flexibility to adapt to priorities based on changing business needs.
Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Assist with the development of brand and creative content to support a variety of activities and advertising tactics.
Prepare routine reports for distribution to airport staff and business partners. Reports include preparation of monthly flight schedules, fare analyses, aviation statistics updates and other research topics.
Assist with coordination and staffing of airport-sponsored marketing activities, displays, promotions, contests, on-site advertising, gate events, and trade shows.
Serve as a contact for delivery, set-up, and tear down of displays for airport-sponsored events.
Assist with coordination of quarterly travel forum meetings with business partners and area travel managers.
Manage and support a collaborative working environment with external airport business partners including but not limited to airlines, chambers of commerce, tourism bureaus, travel agencies, and corporate travel managers.
Prepare and distribute calendars tracking school holidays, major conventions, and regional events that may impact demand for air travel.
Manage airport’s promotional direct mail program.
Prepare ROI reports at the conclusion of each advertising campaign and special event.
Work with Communications and Information Center Department teams to ensure consistency with the marketing message over all platforms – TV, print, radio, outdoor, digital, social media, website, and on-site displays.
Compose periodic articles for the airport’s newsletter touting air service initiatives, accomplishments, and updates.
Oversee placement and regular update of airport promotional messages on in-terminal video displays, televisions, and at sponsored facilities.
Foster positive working relationships with tenants, vendors, business partners in support of Airport District goals.
Manage inventory of promotional items and trade show materials.
Assist the Commercial Business, Communications, and Information Center Department teams as well as others with special projects as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements (Evaluation Factors: Skills, Education, Experience, Ability)
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, public administration, communications, public relations, aviation management, or a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of three years of experience in marketing, communications, advertising, market research, or related field required.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in the use of the latest versions of Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint and web searches. Knowledge of aviation databases (i.e. ARC, Diio, U.S. DOT, T-100, BTS, MIDT) and US Census data is helpful.
Strong verbal and written communication skills; capability for analytical thinking.
Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Skilled in using social media to accomplish business goals.
Knowledge and experience with digital advertising and targeting is helpful.
Knowledge and experience with graphic design and layout is helpful.
Confident in working with the public, fellow employees, and business partners in pursuit of Airport District goals.
Comfortable with working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial team environment.
Valid Driver’s License.
Diligence must be exercised when handling confidential information.
Reasonable care for equipment/process will prevent injury/damage.
Responsible for own work but must coordinate work with others.
Physical Demand – Moderate physical effort required. Moderate to heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), carrying, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling required up to 20% of the time. Sitting required 80% of the time.
Must be able to operate a computer keyboard/mouse.
Must be able to drive to various locations on and off airport premises.
Some night and weekend work will be required.

Occasional out of town/overnight travel may be required.
Must be able to complete and pass pre-employment/post offer checks to include, but not limited to, background, drug, references, education, and DMV, as required by the Federal Government, aviation-related authorities and the District.
