Job Overview
Under direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Vice President of Operations will provide vision, strategy, direction, and execution to drive business objectives (Key Results) regarding the physical operation of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, including public safety, airside operations, sustainability, environmental compliance, and the Integrated Operations Center. Accountabilities take the form of strategic goals and objectives to be achieved within the framework of Airport Board Policy. Decisions and recommendations are reviewed for overall accomplishment and impact on the Airport’s mission, policy, and practice.

This executive position requires a deep understanding of leadership, influence, and a high level of strategic thinking. The Executive Vice President of Operations plays a key role in critical, large scale initiatives that require collaboration with internal and external stakeholders as well as proactive and transparent communication with multiple departments.

What you will be doing:

Plan, coordinate, and interact with airlines, airport tenants, city, state, and federal agencies, and community interest representatives concerning airport operations, governmental guidelines, regulations, and related matters.
Prepare, present, and execute on concise data-driven and solution-driven recommendations to the Chief Executive Officer and the DFW Airport Board to clearly articulate issues, ideas, solutions, trends, and operations-related opportunities.
Oversee a division wide budget and present to the Chief Executive Officer for approval.
Provide strategic direction and accountability for division profit and loss centers including Corporate Aviation, Access DFW, and the Fire Training Research Center.
Serve as Executive Sponsor for a wide array of strategic initiatives and participate in Executive Committee meetings.
Leverage available intelligence to provide a proactive safety and security posture and make sound recommendations on investments of capital and operating expenditures.
Manage crisis situations with effective leadership, calm and visible direction.
Serve as designated executive liaison to the Customs and Border Protection, Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration, and other agencies on matters related to airport operations, governmental guidelines, and regulations.
Provide direction to department heads to effectively manage activities of holistic integrated operations, public safety, sustainability, and environmental affairs.
What you need:
Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, airport management, or a related field.
Seven (7) years of increasingly responsible management experience in the aviation industry, including extensive management and leadership experience at a major commercial airport.
Detailed experience leading culture change, improving employee engagement scores, and large change management initiatives.
Demonstrated experience overseeing airport safety, emergency services, airfield operations, and airport safety and security certification programs.Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and a collaborative approach to achieving business results.
Ability to obtain and maintain an FBI Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance.
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license.
What we desire:
Master’s degree in business or public administration, airport management, or a related field.
Experience leading sustainability initiatives and environmental compliance at a medium or large hub airport.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of airport public safety, including police and fire protection and anti-air piracy.
Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices governing the operation and management of a major international airport.
Knowledge of airport building, utility, airfield, grounds, and facility operations.
Ability to apply modern management and administrative principles and techniques to airport operations.
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with the public and community representatives.
