  • Draft and negotiate commercial real estate transactions.
  • Review current leaseholds for compliance.
  • Assist with transactional matters.
  • Assist in the drafting memorandum as required.
  • Draft settlement agreements, memorandum of understanding and various other agreements.
  • Act as liaison with various other City Departments (including but not limited to Law, Procurement, and Risk Management.) on various projects.
  • Conduct legal research as required on legal compliance, regulatory matters and/or aviation-related topics.
  • Attend various weekly coordination meetings with various City Departments.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of responses to legal documents.
  • Handle pre-litigation dispute resolution matters.
  • Review and analyze statutes to ensure company compliance and make recommendations when necessary.
  • Counsel departmental management on relevant regulations and laws pertaining to the section.
  • Review and draft legal documents and advise employees on legal and regulatory issues related to real estate projects.


  • Assist in the development of scope of services and development of RFQs, RFPs, and other required procurement types from inception to award. This would include architectural/engineering agreements, various construction procurement types, commodities, and other professional services as needed.
  • Review Construction Bid Packages as to form and legality at the 90%, 100%, and Issue for Bid level.
  • Coordinate required changes for procurements with various user groups and others within the City of Chicago.
  • Assist in the drafting of advertisement requests and other memorandum as required.
  • Review construction modifications/change orders as to form and legality on a weekly basis.
  • Review Construction Manager Response to contractor claims, draft CDA responses to claims and advise on legal and other construction law issues.
  • Draft Settlement Agreements, Memorandum of Understanding and various other agreements.
  • Coordinate lien waivers with Department of Law and the Department of Finance.
  • Act as liaison with various other City Departments (Law, Procurement, Compliance and Risk Management) on various projects.
  • Negotiate professional services agreements with vendors as needed Negotiate utility company agreements as required.
  • Review professional services agreements and monitor the required deliverables in conjunction with the Design/Construction Group and/or other groups within Aviation
  • Assist with the review of Errors and Omissions claims.
  • Assist with an annual General Conditions review and update.
  • Conduct legal research as required.
  • Attend various weekly coordination meetings with various City Departments.
  • Initiate the amendment process for various contracts, review and negotiate new terms/fees.
  • Assist in the evaluation of RFQs/RFPs/Task Order Submittals.
  • Coordinate with outside counsel as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of subpoena responses.
  • Handle pre-litigation dispute resolution matters.
  • Additional duties may be required for this position.
