Under the direct supervision of the President & CEO promotes and markets Capital Region International Airport and Port Lansing to the aviation, freight forwarding, and import and export businesses with emphasis placed on growth of domestic and international airfreight, distribution, and logistics through the airport, Port Lansing Port of Entry, and Port Lansing Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) #275. Manages use of Authority facilities in accordance with established policies and procedures. Responsible for property management including concessions planning and oversight, aeronautical and non-aeronautical business, commercial property development, and lease administration at the Capital Region International Airport, Mason Jewett Field, and the Port Lansing Global Logistics Center.
Manages real estate, ground leases and related development contracts, management contracts, and permits.
Manages and develops the Authority’s properties, buildings, concessions, and land, with a focus on regulatory compliance, revenue growth, and diversification.
Oversees the operation of Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ 275) with full comprehension of the role of grantee.
Develop relations with airlines, trucking companies, railroads, shippers, charter brokers, FTZ Operators and freight forwarders engaged in international trade to expand or create new business at Capital Region International Airport, Port Lansing Inland Port, and Port Lansing FTZ #275.
Develops relationships with local companies to understand and help meet their supply chain needs.
Implements strategy to attract new aeronautical and non-aeronautical commercial business operators as well as retain and grow existing aeronautical and non-aeronautical tenants.
Fosters and maintains positive tenant relationships and serves as the Authority’s liaison regarding property issues. Investigates complaints and recommends solutions.
Administers the Authority’s concession program, including the Airport Concession Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (ACDBE) program.
Participates in activities regarding Authority’s Master Plan.
Represents the Capital Region Airport Authority and Port Lansing at industry trade shows, area Chamber of Commerce(s), regional economic organizations, state and federal trade and commerce departments, and other Michigan global trade marketing events.
Assists in preparation of marketing materials, press releases, and communications concerning the development and promotion of Capital Region Airport Authority.
Drafts, negotiates, monitors, and interprets agreements for land, buildings, and other Authority facilities/properties.
Prepares correspondence, documents, and reports.
Secures and implements applicable state & federal grants.
Conducts frequent visits and inspections of all Authority land and facilities.
Directs, maintains, tracks, and updates property management records to include files on leases, permits, insurance documents, revenue reports, drawings, and specifications.
Provides responses to customer inquiries on a wide array of matters related to area of responsibility.
Oversees phases of the Request for Proposals (RFP), Request for Bids (RFB), and Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the Authority’s commercial business.
Reviews, prepares, and maintains standard solicitation documents and agreements.
Develops and maintains Minimum Standards for commercial aeronautical activities.
Assists with developing and maintaining applicable rules and regulations.
Performs other functions as requested to ensure the safety and security of airport tenants and the public.

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Business or Public Administration, Finance, Airport Management, Economic/Real Estate Development, or other closely relevant field.
Minimum of seven years of professional work experience.

- Valid Michigan driver’s license or ability to obtain within a reasonable time after date of hire.
- Ability to pass an FBI fingerprint-based criminal history record check and a TSA security threat assessment and maintain eligibility for an unrestricted security access badge in accordance with the Airport Security Program and applicable regulations/directives.
The Director of Properties & Business Development is an exempt position with a pay range between $76,000 – $95,000 annually w/benefits that include:
