Under the general supervision of an Airport Duty Manager (ADM), ensures that the conditions and safety of the airport is maintained in compliance and preparedness with local operational standards and regulations established by the Federal Government.

·        Monitor airfield and terminal conditions with regard to maintaining a safe, efficient and orderly operation in compliance with existing regulations;

·        Conduct inspections of the airfield to ensure compliance with Title 14 CFR Part 139;

·        Assist the ADM in management of field operations, construction activities, and ensure compliance with airport and federal regulations;

·        Inspect runway, taxiway, concourses, cargo areas, customs facility, and ramp areas for changing surface conditions or other events affecting airport operations;

·        Coordinate the dissemination of notice to airmen (NOTAMS) and airfield conditions via the FAA NOTAM Manager;

·        Partner with stakeholders to coordinate special movements on the airfield such as VIP and/or charter operations, AIR EVAC, etc.;

·        Conduct aircraft ground control, gate and facility management, monitoring system software and making appropriate changes to reflect actual gate usage;

·        Report, document, and/or resolve problems or incidents on airport property;

·        Assist the airlines and ground handlers in keeping the information in the gate management system software accurate and up-to-date;

·        Supervise the preparation of daily log and routine report forms and documentation for particular shift;

·        Coordinate with FAA Air Traffic Control facilities any activities affecting the air operations area;

·        Implement disaster/emergency plan procedures as required;

·        Monitor weather conditions and forecasts, and takes all precautionary measures necessary to prevent dangerous or hazardous conditions which may prevail during inclement weather situations and operates the Runway Friction Tester;

·        Serve as the contact for trouble shooting with the FIDS, jetways, baggage system, APC’s and coordinate with the appropriate section;

·        Recommend development and modification of existing work plans, methods and procedures to enhance operational efficiencies;

·        Performs other related tasks as assigned or required;


·        Extensive knowledge of FAA Ground Control radio procedures, FAA requirements, policies and procedures and regulations, specifically Parts 77, 1542, 139 and 150;

·        Knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations to be able to ensure compliance by airlines, tenants, and other users of the airport;

·        Knowledge of gate management software systems sufficient to be able to monitor activity and make appropriate changes to ensure accurate records;

·        Skill in the simultaneous use of several radio frequencies sufficient to be able to provide and receive information from airport, FAA, airline, and other personnel;

·        Skill in prioritizing and coordinating simultaneous activities to ensure effective and efficient completion of the work assignment;

·        Considerable ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively, and to determine a proper course of action during emergencies;

·        Intermediate skill in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

·        Knowledge of snow removal and ice control operations;

The following requirements list the minimum education/training/experience required to qualify for this job. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted.


·        Bachelor’s degree from four-year accredited college or university in Aviation Management or related field; or Associate’s degree and Two-Three (2-3) years related experience

·        Possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid driver’s license. Note: License must be maintained throughout employment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; bend; stoop; climb; stand and walk. The employee must be able to negotiate numerous flights of stairs as well as utilize escalators and other mechanical conveyances. Precise speech and hearing for radio and phone communication. Hearing ability must meet the standards / levels, as required by the Department of Transportation guidelines. Vision must accommodate fine print and ability to distinguish colors. Vision must be compatible for night driving. During some phases of job duties incumbent must drive/ride in a vehicle for an extended period of time. The employee must be able to reach with hands, arms and have the finger dexterity to work with keys, office equipment, radios, etc. This employee must be available for after hour emergencies and extensive weather related events.



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed general office noise as well as sounds associated with equipment and radio alarms. Exposure to flashing lights, noise, fuels and chemicals associated with aircraft, heavy equipment, and vehicles. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts as well as aircraft. The employee will work both inside and outside, regardless of weather conditions. The position will consist of shift work, seven days a week, including holidays on a rotating basis. Subject to remain on duty beyond normal hours or be recalled to duty up to 24 hours per day, seven days a week during emergency situations or other extensive periods.



Employment is contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) physical examination performed by the Authority’s examining physician.



Employment is contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) drug screening.  Continued employment may be subject to drug and alcohol testing conducted without advance notice and without individualized suspicion.



Must pass a thorough investigation, consisting of a criminal history check (including but not limited to the requirements of CFR 1542.209 and 1542.3), verification of prior employment and performance, reference and credentials checks.
